Long weekend in Sydney

Shortly after arriving at our hotel, we didn't waste anytime to head out for a late lunch and enjoy a perfect Spring day in Sydney.

Our beautiful Opera House (also confirmed location for Oprah's visit to Australia in December - sorry, couldn't help but mention that ...whoo hoo!)

Everyone was out enjoying the fantastic weather and soaking up a beautiful Sydney Spring day.

Ahhh! A lazy Friday pub lunch with friends. Some greasy food, vino and good company...its been a long time between drinks.

While in Sydney, I got the chance to catch up with my very dear friend. We met on a European holiday over 10 years ago and have always remained close - a definite highlight of the trip...along with the wedding of course...

The location for the beautiful wedding (although, this is not the actual wedding we attended. Our friends' wedding was an intimate occasion of only 38 guests of which we felt honoured to be a part of so I didn't want to intrude on their privacy by posting photos - but you can see what a perfect location this was for a civil wedding and can take a peek at some pictures here).

This isn't the reception venue of the wedding we attended but one we passed on the way. I had to take a photo - I've never seen so many flowers for a reception!

Where we enjoyed a peaceful breakfast the day after the night before. Lovely quiet spot. The building to the left (jutting over the harbour) is where the wedding reception was held the night before - glorious night views of the Harbour Bridge.

Last weekend we enjoyed a long weekend away in Sydney to attend a close family friend's wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful - the ceremony was under the Harbour Bridge and was followed by an intimate reception at The Wharf Restaurant which at one of the piers at Walsh Bay that overhangs Sydney Harbour and boasts spectacular views of the Harbour Bridge. The bride looked stunning and the groom was quietly smitten.

It was fantastic to 'get away' and take a break from the usual routine to enjoy some shopping and to catch up with close friends.

It was also our first time away from our beautiful little Angel and while I felt very nervous (and slightly sick) for weeks leading up to the event, Amelie had a wonderful time with her Nanny and Poppie while we were away. After experiencing long delays at the airport we were very happy to see our special girl on our return and showered her with lots of cuddles. I think my parents were also quietly happy to see us as they looked exhausted after entertaining an exuberant toddler all weekend.

....And...with one day to spare to prepare for my nieces' visit - there is certainly no rest for the wicked!
